  • Candidate Questionnaire:

    1. What inspired you to run for the Pasadena independent School District Board of Trustees or the San Jacinto Board of Trustees?
My inspiration comes from a profound understanding of my personality type. I firmly believe that everyone possesses a unique talent, and it is crucial to discover and embrace that talent. We can significantly impact our community and ourselves by transforming it into a strength. I enjoy doing what I like while positively impacting those around me. I want to share the facts or the truth and make things clear. Talent is a natural tendency towards what we like.
We all have it, even if we are not aware of it. We can discover it by thinking about what we like, what we would do for free, or what we would be willing to pay for.
My talent is working with others to build a best you. I can provide clarity and honesty.

    2. What qualifications, experience, and leadership skills prepare you for this role, including crisis response, crime prevention, financial literacy, and public communication?
My education and experience have prepared me well for this position. I have 30 years of experience as a small business owner and academic degrees in marketing and psychology from the University of Houston and Tecnologico de Monterrey. I also hold a Master’s in Mental Health from Houston Christian University. Additionally, I am an associate licensed therapist in Texas, working with crime victims focused on recovering their mental health.

    3. What do you see as the biggest challenges facing our school district / college?  How would you address them?
San Jacinto Community College is an asset to our community, and I prioritize promoting it actively within the school districts it serves.
Higher education is an important option that should be encouraged in our community. Not all families discuss the benefits of pursuing higher education, so I plan to focus on this topic. It’s essential to start this conversation as early as elementary school. A more educated population benefits everyone.

    4. What do you see as the biggest strengths and successes of our school district/college?
The citizens I have spoken to show great pride in this institution, its programs, and its management. The positive and valuable perception it has makes it a solid institution in our community. The opportunity is the promotion in different population sectors, where family discussions about the benefits of a high-quality education are rare. This promotion must be clear and solid.

    5. What is your vision for the school district/college in the next three to five years?
I firmly believe that the promotion of higher education should begin as early as elementary school. Implementing engaging programs within school districts that effectively showcase the numerous benefits of pursuing higher education is vital. Furthermore, prioritizing mental health education is equally essential. We should introduce mandatory programs that cover the fundamental concepts of mental health and foster self-esteem and resilience. By nurturing academic aspirations and mental well-being from a young age, we can empower future generations to thrive.

    6. What are your top priorities for the first 6 months, and what policies or initiatives will you continue or change?
Programs like dual credit and transfer opportunities play a vital role in helping students with specific goals and aspirations to reach their full potential. By taking advantage of these programs, students can effectively prepare for their future and maximize their educational journey.

    7. Access to talent and workforce is the number one challenge facing our businesses and industries.  What would you do to ensure that employers' needs are met, and students are graduating with the skills necessary to succeed?
When two or more factors are decisive in generating solutions, my priority is to create a communication program between them: the school and the community—on the one hand, San Jacinto Community College and, on the other hand, the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce.
Internship programs. My motto would be ''Local Challenges, Local Solutions.''

    8. Supporting local businesses is a chamber priority.  What would you do to support local businesses as a Board Trustee?
San Jacinto Community College's budget is $224.5 million for 2025. It's important to support local businesses whenever possible. When you shop locally, your money stays in the community, helping local businesses thrive and creating job opportunities. Local spending strengthens the economy by recirculating within the community, contributing to a stronger regional economy. San Jacinto is a center for higher education and a dynamic organization with regional influence that brings stakeholders together. We can all contribute something: businesses of all sizes, chambers of commerce, and City government.

    9. Collaboration among the chamber, city, school district, and college has been pivotal in achieving success both in educational programs and during times of natural disaster when coordinated efforts are necessary for recovery.  What suggestions or ideas do you have for continued collaboration and enhanced partnerships?
Coordination to achieve common goals is vital in any organization, including families, churches, businesses, and companies.
