  • Candidate Questionnaire:

    1. What inspired you to seek this position?
I previously ran in the last cycle 2 years ago and by God’s grace, I made the runoff with our currently council member. I decided to run again because I am committed to my district, and I look forward to continuing serving my community in a greater capacity as a council member.

    2. What qualifications, experience, and leadership skills prepare you for this role, including crisis response, crime prevention, financial literacy, and public communication?
I have 15+ years of accounting experience, including some experience in forensic accounting. I was typically the person they would call in to analyze financial records, identify irregularities, research any possible crimes, and make recommendations on best practices to avoid possible loopholes going forward. I have a keen eye for detail and don’t mind asking difficult questions. I believe this experience will help provide oversight to spending done by our city.

I also have experience with crisis response. On the day of the tornado, January 2023, my daughters and I handed out 10 cases of water to nearby neighbors who were out cutting down fallen trees. We then drove to Baker Ripley and helped set up cots for displaced members of our community. Being there at that time, allowed me to be the connection between the American Red Cross and Revive Church, and we were able to open a shelter at the church for almost 2 weeks. With the help of fellow church members, we were able to serve our community.

    3. What are your top priorities for the first 100 days if elected, and which city policies or initiatives will you continue or change?
In the first one hundred days, I would recommend a committee be established to evaluate employee benefits as a whole. In speaking to a retired officer, they stated that their health insurance had almost doubled in price. They were told the city did not have a chance to shop around for a better price. This is unacceptable considering that benefit renewals happen yearly.

Also, in speaking to another officer, they mentioned how imperative it is to separate the benefits of our law enforcement officers from civilian city employees. This is important because it would help reduce costs for everyone, including the portion paid by the city for all employees.

Another idea would be to create Facebook groups for every district so that the citizens can contact their council member directly and voice any questions or concerns.

Lastly, with my heart for churches and families, I would request the support of council to establish a zoning ordinance for smoke shops. Currently, I would say we are behind the curve, as other cities in Texas (Dallas, Sugarland, Sherman, etc.) already have something like this in place.

    4. How do you plan to embrace the city of Pasadena, including uniting City Council, foster collaboration, and ensure transparency in your leadership while effectively representing all Pasadena constituents?
I am committed to upholding conservative values. Along with that, comes defending and advocating for keeping taxes low, and I am all about bringing unity and remaining transparent with my constituents. I often tell people, what you see, is what you get.

    5. What actions will you take to increase the number of city projects awarded to small and local businesses?
I love our local businesses and Pasadena thrives, when our local and small businesses thrive. I look forward to working closely with the chamber to make sure that other qualified local and minority/women owned businesses understand the benefits of being involved with the chamber. We need to be a city that encourages the expansion of local businesses, as well as, a city that brings in new businesses in to our community.

    6. What is your vision for Pasadena’s economic development, including plans for the convention center, city-owned land, and infrastructure improvements to encourage business investment?
I believe the improvements that are already happening around our convention center will encourage more events in our great city and therefore, will become a large part of revenues coming into our city. This will enable us to continue with the much-needed infrastructure improvements and good and safe roadways, will encourage more businesses to come.

    7. Business-friendly policies rank as the number one priority for chamber members. What are your plans to streamline the permitting process and improve ordinances to attract and support new businesses while also improving flexibility for development in Pasadena?
As stated before, we need our local businesses. We can’t make it so difficult for them to open their doors, that we become a less desirable city to do business in. For many years, I’ve been hearing the complaints of local business owners that have become really frustrated with the permit process. Some have felt that the goal post is moved every time the goal is met, and that needs to be addressed before we lose more local businesses.

    8. What are your plans for improving and maintaining Pasadena’s infrastructure, including roads, sewage, drainage, water supply, high speed internet, and the power grid?
I believe we really need to work together as a community to be moving in the direction of making Pasadena great for every district. This includes addressing the most urgent infrastructure needs first, no matter what district they are in. I would like to see every citizen of Pasadena, feel heard and seen and the way we do that, is by addressing every community issue, fairly and expeditiously.

    9. How will you leverage modern technology to streamline city operations, improve efficiency, and prioritize long-term growth? What specific innovations or technology solutions will you implement to enhance public services, economic development, and infrastructure management in Pasadena?
I believe there is always room for improvement. Let’s establish rapport with other great cities to see how they are managing efficiency. We should have the very best helping us in these issues to become the best city in Texas to live in.

    10. Business and citizens alike require a secure city in which to work and live.  What is your experience and plan for public safety for Pasadena?
I am honored to have received the endorsement from Pasadena Police Officer’s Union for District G. I have always advocated for our law enforcement and will continue to be their voice on council. So much of what they do goes unnoticed, and they need to know that we have their six, as they are often forced in making split second decisions. We must continue to recruit and fully staff them so that we can all enjoy a safer Pasadena.

I will do the same for our Fire Department as well. They need to know that we always have their best interest at heart.

    11. How can the city ensure adequate healthcare infrastructure, including mental health care, hospitals, doctors, and accountability in healthcare services?
We are pretty blessed to have multiple hospitals in our city and a variety of other healthcare services. As with any business, we need to continue to make Pasadena a desirable place to do business.

    12. Access to talent and workforce is the number one challenge facing Pasadena businesses. What role should the government play in workforce development, including investment in training programs and partnerships with colleges and the ISDs?
I strongly believe in partnerships with our local schools and training and development centers in our area. We need to promote organizations that are already focused on these goals. Let’s get Pasadena businesses employed.
