Candidate Questionnaire​:1. What inspired you to seek this position?After serving 4 terms from 2013-2021, I felt like I still had a lot to offer and wanted to continue to serve District B.2. What qualifications, experience, and leadership skills prepare you for this role, including crisis response, crime prevention, financial literacy, and public communication?I was on city council for 8 years previously, served 2 terms on the crime control board, and am currently serving on the building and standards commission. I am also a former member of Pasadena volunteer fire department, and a previous assistant fire chief at Air Products and Chemical.3. What are your top priorities for the first 100 days if elected, and which city policies or initiatives will you continue or change?My top priority is public safety and infrastructure. I would continue to have 2 police academy classes a year and maintain a budget that would allow for this.4. How do you plan to embrace the city of Pasadena, including uniting City Council, foster collaboration, and ensure transparency in your leadership while effectively representing all Pasadena constituents?Have a good working relationship with other council members and mayor. For transparency I will make sure the public is informed of city business5. What actions will you take to increase the number of city projects awarded to small and local businesses?In my previous 8 years on council, I stood up for small businesses going through the permitting process. I would make sure the permit dept is fully staffed to ensure that small business permits are handled in an expediated manner6. What is your vision for Pasadena’s economic development, including plans for the convention center, city-owned land, and infrastructure improvements to encourage business investment?If adequate infrastructure improvements such as street improvements occur, this will entice more businesses to come to Pasadena.7. Business-friendly policies rank as the number one priority for chamber members. What are your plans to streamline the permitting process and improve ordinances to attract and support new businesses while also improving flexibility for development in Pasadena?I will make sure the permit and planning departments are well staffed to accommodate the needs of businesses that want to come to Pasadena.8. What are your plans for improving and maintaining Pasadena’s infrastructure, including roads, sewage, drainage, water supply, high speed internet, and the power grid?We would have to manage the budget to ensure funds are available to adequately take care of all infrastructure needs.9. How will you leverage modern technology to streamline city operations, improve efficiency, and prioritize long-term growth? What specific innovations or technology solutions will you implement to enhance public services, economic development, and infrastructure management in Pasadena?The city needs to have more departments such as water, permits, and other necessary depts available through internet access.10. Business and citizens alike require a secure city in which to work and live. What is your experience and plan for public safety for Pasadena?I would want to maintain an adequate number of police officers on the street and to continue hiring new officers.11. How can the city ensure adequate healthcare infrastructure, including mental health care, hospitals, doctors, and accountability in healthcare services?I would try to work with the county to have a hospital and clinic in Pasadena, and encourage hospital corporations to have facilities and doctors in Pasadena.12. Access to talent and workforce is the number one challenge facing Pasadena businesses. What role should the government play in workforce development, including investment in training programs and partnerships with colleges and the ISDs?I would ensure there is support for CTHS and encourage labor unions to have training facilities in Pasadena. I also think it would be beneficial for students to have internships throughout the community and various businesses like the chamber has.
