• Senior Transportation Designer | Houston, TX

    Primary Function
    Designs and develops layouts for engineering projects, translating engineering concepts into detailed design drawings. The role also includes providing technical guidance and serving as a specialist and advisor to both staff and management.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design & Development: Utilize MicroStation, Geopak, and OpenRoads to draft, edit, and finalize transportation design plans. Perform tasks such as grading, surface analysis, and creating alignments, profiles, and sections.
    • Technical Expertise: Prepare and review design drawings, plans, and exhibits to ensure accuracy and quality. Provide technical advice and mentorship to junior staff.
    • Project Coordination: Collaborate with engineers to collect and integrate data, including survey, geotechnical, and GIS data, into design projects.
    • Client Interaction: Prepare technical proposals and engage in business development activities. Coordinate with project staff to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Quality Assurance: Review project documents for drafting and calculation errors, ensuring adherence to company and client standards.
    Education and Experience Requirements
    • Software Proficiency: Extensive experience with the latest releases of MicroStation and Bentley support products such as Geopak and OpenRoads.
    • Technical Skills: Proficient in using additional automated design tools for bridge/culvert detailing and retaining wall design.
    • Experience: 8+ years of related experience in a Civil Engineering environment, with expertise in transportation design.
    • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate Degree or higher is desirable.
    • Leadership & Mentorship: Ability to mentor and train engineering interns and design staff, with strong organizational and communication skills.
